Nicole - Our favourite lady!

Tonight was the last episode of our favourite show on TV at the moment Aussie Ladettes to Ladies! We were in tears and thrilled to pieces last week when our favourite, Nicole, was crowned winner and a "lady". Whilst we are not sure that many of the British aristocracy featured as guests on the show are something to aspire to, Nicole did a great job and flowered a lot over the course of the show.

The show tonight was a catch up on what the girls have been up to. It was nice to see Zoe not so booze addled and we giggled with glee when we discovered Skye was still in touch with one of the young English gentlemen she met on the show. Best of all was to hear Nicole has stopped being a stripper, is about to study and looked FABULOUS! And of course any chance to see the principal Mrs Harbord in action is an opportunity not to me missed - she is an honorary Drag Queen of Death.

As an added bonus the show is followed by Bridezillas. Watch a couple of episodes of that show if you want to learn how to be a Drag Queen of Death!

Drag Photo of the Week - Number 8

Back to work at last with a nice easy post. This is a photo from our "Frock Up or Dress Up party" back in 2006. In the back row are Lara Lush, Sylvia Sonter, Neil, Pru Dish and then in the front is the gorgeous Miss Lee showing off her lovely tanned pins.

Classic Movie Review - Kingdom of the Spiders

Inspired by the cobwebs growing on our blog, we have decided to fill the void in your lives with a review of one our all-time favourite movies - Kingdom of the Spiders.
KotS tells the story of a small town somewhere in mid-America that begins to lose cattle, and then people, to a gathering horde of tarantual-like spiders. The Sheriff (played by William Shatner of Captain Kirk fame) and the love-interest vet lead a few hopefuls in their fight against the spiders, but can they survive when the whole town is covered in cobwebs?
KotS is one of those fantastically kitsch 70's disaster movies, where people pay the price of their follies; this time it appears to be the overuse of insecticide that has caused mother earth to fight back with hairy eight legged horror.
It's hard to know which is more fun, the Shat's over-acting or those 70's shirts with the giant collars. But the real stars of the movies are the spiders that fall out or crawl from unexpected places and keep you cheering on to take out those b-grade stars!

Coming soon.......something

The cobwebs have truly been gathering on our blog site of late, a combination of too much happening and plain laziness. We'll start updating again soon, or may spiders come and take over our apartment and use our bodies as hatching sites.

Goddess Grace

We were lucky enough to get to see Grace Jones live at the Enmore Theatre last week. We had seen her once before in Rome in 2000 and knew we were in for something special. We weren't disappointed at all!
Contrary to the common opinion expressed to us before hand, Miss Jones was on time, professional, chatty, tantrum free and, most important of all, utterly F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!!!
Grace perfomed many of her classics as well as songs from her new album Hurricane. The concert was fantastic, a true performance that had the whole audience screaming for more.
Grace performed in a corset and g-string, leaving the stage at the end of each song to come out in new hat/mask and/or jacket. Highlights of the performance included Grace singing Slave to the Rhythmn (and then walking around the stage introducing the band) whilst hula-hooping, using a shiny hat to turn herself into a human mirrorball and a true performance piece for the title song Hurricane from her album which took our breath away.
She may be in her 60's but Grace Jones is still fierce and still can rock the world!

Happy 2009!

OK, so it's a little bleated, but we still want to wish our many many many readers a fabulous year for 2009. We spent New Year's Eve at a friend's place in Sydney (thank you Janet). The fireworks were spectacular and the view in general was fantastic.
Our new year resolution? Well it probably should have been to update our blog more often, but I'm afraid we just had too much champagne to think of any
at the time!
